Volunteer Opportunities

The Chamber's program of work would not be accomplished without the many resources provided by our numerous member volunteers. Giving of time, talents and sometimes even finances, men and women from throughout the region are making a positive difference in Central Virginia's business climate through their volunteer efforts. And there's always room for more!

Why volunteer? Well, in addition to the fact that it's good for the community, it's also good for you! Volunteers make contacts with like-minded business professionals, gain valuable leadership experiences and receive increased visibility for themselves and their organizations. Take a look at the opportunities below and find out how you can get plugged in, today!

Conference & Marketing Committee

The Conference & Marketing Committee serves as a support organization for local tourism development. They assist in organizing FAM tours and developing off-season packages. Additionally, they provide assistance at tourism events. The group is made up of sales directors of area hotels and affiliated businesses.

Legislative Affairs Committee

The Legislative Affairs Committee identifies public policy issues that affect the business community at the federal, state and local levels. The committee helps the Board of Directors establish legislative agendas and priorities and serves as the voice of business. Committee members are expected to attend Chamber legislative events and trips. They should also be willing to contact elected officials as well as candidates for public office.

President's Ambassador Council

The President's Ambassador Council connects the Chamber to members and prospects by building relationships. Additionally, Ambassadors serve in a public relations capacity to welcome new members, assist in member retention and serve as volunteers at a variety of Chamber events. Ambassadors enjoy special opportunities to interact with Chamber members to improve the level of services the Chamber can offer to its members. Chamber members interested in this committee must submit an application and go through an interview process.

For information on any of these committees, please contact Tammi Collins at 304-868-3486.
